Parts of Speech : Types of Pronoun

Pronoun:

A Pronoun is a word that is used instead of a noun or noun equivalent is called a Pronoun.

The word ' Pronoun ' has been derived from ' Pro ' and ' Noun '. ' Pro ' means instead of or in lieu of and ' Noun ' means name. So, Pronoun means a word to be used instead of or in place of a Noun.

Common pronouns are I, me, he, she, him, his, her, they, them, it, we, us,this, that, any, anybody, somebody, everyone all, who, whom, which, whose, what, each, either, neither, each other, one another etc.


Examples in Sentences: 

  •  She is a good girl.
  • His contribution is really appreciable.
  • They are playing football. 
  • This job is done by me.

Role of Pronoun in a Sentence :

Pronouns are usually short words and they are used to make sentences less cluttered and less repetitive.

For Examples :


John is a good student. He goes to school regularly. He learns his lesson everyday so that he can make a good result.
